In just two weeks Charlottesville will host the Look 3 Charlottesville Festival of the Photograph.  Running June 9-11, 2011, this is the event created by photographers for photographers.   Over three days and three nights attendees will partake of exhibits and on-stage appearances of  “legacy” photographers in addition to outdoor screenings and projections, workshops and other events.  For more information and to purchase tickets go to www.look3.org.

On Monday, June 13, Monticello (the home of Thomas Jefferson) will host the conference “Diplomacy & Education:  Discovering and Teaching Reality.”  As stated on the Monticello website, “the principal objective of this conference is to explore the connection between education and diplomacy as envisaged by Thomas Jefferson in the context of the contemporary world.”  The conference is a joint project of the American Academy of Diplomacy (AAD) and the Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies (ICJS).  The conference will be held at the Robert H. Dolley Madison was a woman of unique style, and a life story that begins in Philadelphia as a young Quaker Woman.  A new PBS series “American Experience:  TV’s Most-Watched History” explores the life of Dolley Madison who ultimately became the beloved wife of James Madison, the president who was a key author of the U.S. Constitution.   Now James Madison’s home, Montpelier, will debut a new exhibit on Dolley Madison’s life through fashion, using the gowns created for this PBS series.  The exhibit debuts June 15th.  For more information visit www.montpelier.org.
