Visit Monticello; the new visitor’s center is awesome, with various interactive learning displays.  When you go in good weather you probably won’t take full advantage of this treasure trove.  Included is a larger and more interesting gift shop as well as a lunch stop.

Visit Montpelier.  They also have a new visitor’s center which gives James Madison and his wife Dolley their due.   The gift shop is well curated and they also have a spot for lunch.

Visit the wineries on the Monticello Wine Trail.  Even better, combine your visit to Monticello or Montpelier with a stop at one or several of the wineries nearby.
